Remedy Hunt |
RemedyHunt is a recent project I did for a client who wanted to "reinvent discussion forums for health." I steered the founders towards a different product direction that ended up really exciting our users and investors.
I did all the design work from user research to creating all the graphics. The app transforms outdated discussion forums into a community where users post and vote on the best health remedies.
Remedy Hunt is inspired by some of the most effective features in ProductHunt.com, Instagram and Reddit. It goes beyond the limits of outdated UX found in web discussion groups and product reviews.
The app is rich media, mobile and offers curated content from properly motivated stakeholders. The app is designed to foster a community of trusted contributors. Content is replicated as web discussions for discoverability as SEO-friendly content.
User Research
Frustrated by my early designs, I conducted extensive primary user research to help challenge hidden assumptions. Eleven interviews and walkthroughs later, I pivoted our product around two insights: experimentation with remedies and cathartic sharing.
Research revealed that regardless of who conducts the diagnosis, users engage in long periods of experimentation, especially for chronic conditions. They rely on Google Search, and when relief does come, it was cathartic to share and help others on Amazon Reviews and discussion forums.
